Hannah Lupton Reinhard
Hannah Lupton Reinhard’s paintings are burst forth with vibrant colors and rich textures further enhanced by her signature addition of Swarovski crystals. The scenes in Reinhard’s works, which she describes as fantasy realism, frequently draw on stories or themes from her Jewish faith. Two Messengers is a portrait of Reinhard’s sisters--depicted here as the angelic messengers from the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah. In the Old Testament, these angels are sent by God to convince the two cities to change their sinful ways. The glowing tambourine held aloft above the figures’ heads indicates this connection to the biblical messengers and symbolizes the divine love that the sisters possess for one another, as well as Lupton Reinhard’s love for them.
