First and Tompolidis came to know one another as a happy accident when First reached out over  Instagram to sarcastically congratulate Tompolidis on being his 20,000th follower! After reaching out,  First quickly realized how unique Tompolidis is as an artist and invited him to fly to Los Angeles to  participate in The Cabin LA Residency. Tompolidis flew from his home in Germany to California at the  beginning of 2023 and spent January of 2023 creating works at the Cabin. In this brand-new work by  Tompolidis, entitled Pride, we see a collector standing on an ornate rug and proudly displaying an  antique ceramic decorated with Grecian motifs. The subject stares off into the distance, bypassing the  viewer and making them wonder what other mysteries and antique treasures may exist that remain  out of sight. Pride is a delightful work which truly gets to the feelings of both enjoyment as well as  fulfillment collectors sometimes feel (and sometimes feel in excess) when they are lucky enough to  possess a cherished work of art.
