Jean-Baptiste Bernadet
Jean-Baptiste Bernadet was one of the first artists invited to The Cabin LA when the residency program started in 2015. Still in its early stages, the program was more informal, and First allowed Bernadet to bring several of his fellow artists to paint alongside him. The result of this time spent in camaraderie and creation was a beautiful set of paintings exemplary of Bernadet’s lyrical and romantic style coupled with his talented abilities as a colorist. In Untitled (Fugue LVIX), the dashes of vibrant color dance across the canvas ⎯ blending and weaving to impress a dream-like quality upon the viewer. First was particularly compelled by the visual beauty of Bernadet’s works describing his Fugue series of paintings as “visual therapy.” Bernadet is represented by Almine Rech.
